So as many of you know, I have taken a short break from the blog to be with my family at such an awful time. I mentioned in an earlier post that we suddenly and tragically lost a family member which has taken it out of all of us. We are all being strong for each other at this awful time.
To take our minds of things I decided that me and little man should bake some cakes and then eat them all. We had very kindly been sent a mini cupcake maker from Find me a Gift. No better time to bake cakes than now.
Cake Maker
Little man loves anything like this, baking cakes, painting anything messy he loves. I decided to let little man take control and see how they turned out.
I got him stood on a chair and let him pour the mixture in the bowl. I have to admit that we did cheat. I decided to buy the cakes that were already measured out in the boxes with the ingredients. Now usually I would never do this but as we have had a rough time lately, it was really difficult for me to want to do everything from scratch.
Little man mixing the cakes
Yes I did help him mix but he was good and had a real good go himself. After I made sure the mixture was mixed enough, I let him fill the cases with the cake mixture.
Filling the cases
After we, or should I say little man filled the cases with the mixture. I placed them in the cake maker. I had already turned the cake maker on so it was hot. Little man is way to small to be going anywhere near this. He wasn’t too happy when I had to take over though.
Mixture in the Cake maker
We then put the lid down for 4 minutes and the cakes were cooked. I can not believe how fast they cooked. I put a knife right in the middle thinking they may not be cooked all the way through but they were. 7 Delicious yummy cupcakes. All that was left to do was cut the middle out, fill it with icing and then put the butterfly wings on the top.
Finished Cakes
All in all I think the cupcake maker is really good for young children and is a very quick way to make cupcakes. I do however still prefer the big cupcakes made in the oven. There really is nothing wrong with this little machine though. It is great if you wanting to make some cakes quick as it take 4 minutes for them to cook. Something quick and easy to do with the kids.
We would give the cupcake maker 4 stars out of 5. It currently retails for £13.99 on FIND ME A GIFT Take a look at their website for many more great gift ideas. Some that I think are great and will be buying myself.
