On Friday I posted a really short and quick post about our trip to Edinburgh. The other half an I had been looking forward to this for so long, now its over. Little man went on a short holiday to my mum and dads house. He loves going there as I have said before. He gets spoilt there.
We left on Friday on the 0816 train, First class on East Coast train. I had my IPad and the other half had his Kindle. After about 20 minutes the lady came round and served us breakfast, which was sausage, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, omelet and toast. The food was OK considering it was train food. Constantly throughout the whole journey, the lady was coming round with tea, coffee, water, fresh orange juice, and coke. You could have as much or little as you wanted.
The train journey was 4 hours, it did however go really fast. The closer to Edinburgh we got the less snow there was which seemed weird. I managed to get a great picture of The Angel of the North…
We arrived in Edinburgh at 12.15 and went to our hotel which was the Novotel Centre. The same hotel we stayed in last year, so we knew it was a nice place. It was about 5 minutes walk away from the town centre. Great hotel and great location. Was also about 15 minute walk from the train station or 5 minutes in a taxi. We were really lazy and took a taxi which cost £5. Once we checked into the hotel we decided to go for a walk. We went to town and did some clothes shopping. That night we were going to a comedy club called The Stand. We were both so tired and decided to go relax before going out in the hotel.
Novotel Centre Hotel
Great Full English in the Hotel.
We went to the comedy club last year, so we knew it was going to be a good night. We decided to eat there too. We got ready and went out for a few drinks at 1800, then headed for the comedy club for 1900. We had nachos, with chilli and sour cream and cheese. It was so nice. If you ever go to Edinburgh you must check the comedy club out as it is such a great night. The comedy finished at 2330, we had been drinking all night and decided to go back to the hotel for a few in the hotel bar. We ended up going to bed at 0300 on the Saturday morning. That same morning we got up at 1030 for breakfast which was a great full English, so you could have as much as you wanted. We both felt a little bit hung over, so decided to go back to our room have a shower and relax for a while. By the time we ended up going out it was midday. We went for a walk to the castle and around the town, we saw the oldest pub in Edinburgh the outside and inside of it.
Going to Edinburgh this year we decided not to do a lot as we both just wanted to relax, no rushing about and no schedule. we had no little man to think about, or entertain, or change etc. We had a great day which was topped off by a great Indian at night in a place called the Karma Sutra.
Although we didn’t do much this year, we had a great time together, we had a laugh and it was nice to have a small break away. We came Sunday morning on the 1130 train. We had sandwiches on the train on the way back, pork with stuffing and again for train food they were OK. We also were given crisps and cookies, and as much drink as we wanted.
Back home now and we were both so happy to see our little man again, he was also happy to see us. Although he had been spoilt all weekend.
