I was so excited to be chosen to review Spin Mania by Drumond Park. Our game arrived this week and I couldn’t wait to get it out of the box and have a go. I’m like a big kid myself and love a good game.
I have two young cousins (6 and 9 years old) and we decided to get them round for dinner and to have a play with the new game. I told them I had to review a game, the whole time from when they got here to when we played the game they didn’t stop going on about it.
Contents of the box
1 spin base
3 Spinning plates
3 plate bases
1 plate handle
4 coloured scoring pegs
Batteries are not included so you will need to c batteries.
To start with we all just wanted to play the game and didn’t read the instructions. We just put all the plate bases in a line together next to each other. This counted as our practice goes as we really was not very good to start with. I then finally decided to read the instructions. The idea of the game is to place the plate bases around the room you’re in, so then you have to walk to where the bases are while balancing the plates on the handle. There is a timer, so you have to be quick and do all three plates in your time limit.
This game looks so easy, but looks can be deceiving. It really is not as easy as it looks. To start with none of us could even manage to lift the plate off the spin base. My partner was finally the one who managed to do all 3 plates first on all three stands. Once you have placed all the plates on the stands, you mark your time with the coloured scoring pegs. The kids got so excited and were a little bit like a bull in a china shop, rather than going slowly they wanted to go fast to get the quickest time.
Although this game says it is for ages 6+ us adults liked playing it as well. The game is very addictive and is great for the adults when the stands get put in hard places like under the table or in a little nook.
You can play this game alone. The box does say 2+ players and obviously if you want to play against some one then that is the case. There is nothing stopping you playing this game yourself though. Maybe even having a sneaky practice on your own, so when you friends come round you can impress them with how good you are.
As a family we would give this game 5/5 it is a great fast paced, fun addictive game and is great for the young or old. Can’t wait till Christmas to get this game out to play with the family.
This game retails for £22.99 To check out this game take a look at the Drumond Park website here.
