I was asked if I would like to write a blog post about a Grand Adventure that I would like to go on, with £1000. I instantly jumped at the chance, as there is a Grand Adventure I have wanted to do for a long time now.
So where would your grand adventure take you? Would you go, somewhere hot, somewhere cold, somewhere expensive or somewhere cheap and save your money for trips? I would love to go to the Maldives, Jamaica and France to go skiing. Although these places are fantastic places I don’t think they are places to go on an adventure. They are holiday destinations. So my Great adventure would literally take me on an adventure. I would drive from the UK to Malawi in a Land Rover. The land rover below in fact.
We already have the Land Rover, which is almost fully modified to go on this adventure. Well in truth it is my dads which we would borrow. It has a fridge, a tent that is built on top of the Land Rover which pulls down, It has had everything done to the suspension and modifications inside to make it able to do this adventure. We have sleeping bags that are lightweight, small fold up beds, chairs and mainly 99% of things we need we have. This is an adventure my partner and I would both love to do. This passion started from my dad who is big into this type of thing as well. He always used to talk about it, which made me look into it. I thought how amazing it looked and thought it was a fantastic and great idea. My dad has done a couple of adventures to Malawi already and he had an amazing time, I would love to follow in his footsteps and do the same. The excitement of driving through all the different countries, and on all the different roads and all the amazing things along the way we would see. With regards to the £1000 I would use it towards the cost of fuel and food mainly. We have a little gas stove so we are able to cook food, with pots and pans and dishes. A lot of the food we would take with us to start with.
So my great adventure would take us from…
Peterborough UK to….
Greece through to
Syria, and on to
Jordan, then to
Egypt, followed by
Sudan, and next visiting
Ethiopia, and on to
Kenya, then next on to
Tanzania and on to our final destination
When we finally end up in Malawi, I would love to have some time with the local people. I would take some things from the UK with us to give to them. Things such as pens, pencils and paper, football and a few clothes. I would take as much as I could. They would be so greatful for anything and to see the smile and happiness on their faces would be great to see. I would love to play football with the locals and see the kids happy and laughing and enjoying the things we had taken for them.
